CULVER — Triton fell to eventual tournament champion Boone Grove, 9-0, in Game 2 of the CMA Baseball Invitational on Saturday, May 16, at Culver Academies’ Wilkins Field. The Wolves struck first with one run in the opening inning, but Triton kept the game within reach through four innings before Boone Grove broke the game open late. Boone Grove scored five runs in the fifth and added three more in the sixth to pull away. Triton finished with four hits in the loss. Levi McFarland led the Trojans at the plate, going 2-for-3. Max Johnson and Brayden Gunnels each added a hit, while Drew Bingamon, Blake Ousley and Trey Tarlton each drew a walk. McFarland started on the mound for Triton and took the loss, throwing four innings while striking out three. Jack Prater worked 2 2/3 innings in relief, and Ousley recorded the final out. Boone Grove was led offensively by Tristan Wilson, who went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Josh Strasburg also had a big day for the Wolves, finishing 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Caleb Thomas added two doubles and an RBI for Boone Grove. Boone Grove went on to win the invitational championship, defeating Culver Academies 12-0 in the title game. Triton bounced back in the consolation game with a 5-4 win over Lewis Cass.
