CULVER — Triton bounced back with a 5-4 win over Lewis Cass in the consolation game of the CMA Baseball Invitational on Saturday, May 16, at Culver Academies’ Wilkins Field. The Trojans scored three runs in the third inning to take the first lead of the game, then added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to hold off the Kings. Lewis Cass scored once in the third and twice in the fourth to tie the game at 3-3. Triton moved back in front with a run in the fifth, but the Kings answered with one in the sixth to even the score again. The Trojans pushed across the decisive run in the top of the seventh, then held Lewis Cass scoreless in the bottom half to secure the win. Drew Bingamon helped spark the Triton offense, going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base. Max Johnson also had a strong game, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base. Blake Ousley added two hits for the Trojans. Jack Prater, Brayden Gunnels and Trey Tarlton each added one hit. Prater drove in a run and stole a base, while Maddox Dennie added an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Braxton Kaufman earned the win on the mound for Triton with a complete-game effort. Kaufman allowed 10 hits and four runs, three earned, while walking three and striking out four. Lewis Cass was led by Owen Cotner-Graves, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Julian Davidson, Brennan Deeter, Kaison Hipsher-Walker, Carson Rowe and Tyler Foley each had one hit for the Kings.
