ROCHESTER - Chloe McKinney opened the 2026 girls golf season with Triton’s best round as the Lady Trojans placed second in a three-team match Monday at Round Barn Golf Club. McKinney shot a 97 over the par-72 course to finish third individually. She trailed Rochester’s Molly Moore, who earned medalist honors with an 81, and Lexi Haughs, who finished with a 96. Brooke Kitch added a 104 for the Lady Trojans, giving Triton two of the five best individual rounds of the match. Alexis Young recorded a 138, while Triton’s fourth counting score was a 144. Triton finished with a team score of 483, placing 26 strokes ahead of Winamac. Rochester won the season-opening match with a 424, while Winamac finished third with a 509. Moore led Rochester with her medalist round of 81. Haughs followed with a 96, Lily Chipps shot a 120, and Audrey Widman completed the team scoring with a 127. Sophia Shell led Winamac with a 122. Next, Triton will compete in the Winamac Invitational on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Moss Creek Golf Club.
