CULVER — Triton’s boys tennis season came to an end with a 5-0 loss to Culver Academies in the IHSAA sectional championship Thursday evening at the Gable Tennis Center. Junior Levi McFarland battled through the closest match of the championship at No. 3 singles. After dropping the opening set to Culver Academies junior Andres Quiroz Lozano, 6-3, McFarland responded with a 7-6 victory in the second set. Quiroz Lozano captured another tiebreaker in the deciding set to win the match, 7-6. At No. 1 singles, Culver Academies junior James Bartelme defeated Triton senior Max Ritchison, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Emiliano Ornelas topped Triton senior Colton Large at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Culver Academies also earned straight-set victories on both doubles courts. Sophomore Emiliano Leon Aguilar and senior Jose Arturo Paredes Castrejon defeated Triton juniors Maxwell Johnson and Brayden Nifong at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, juniors Kameron Holman and Charles Schlicher defeated Triton sophomore Camden Large and junior Clayton Andrews, 6-0, 6-2. Triton reached the championship match after defeating North Judson-San Pierre, 5-0, in the opening round and Plymouth, 4-1, in the semifinals.
