MANCHESTER, IN — Three Triton Trojan girls cross country runners took to the course at Manchester High School today to compete in the IHSAA Cross Country Regional, capping off an impressive season and giving themselves one final opportunity to leave it all on the course. Sophomores Evelyn Gephart, Kensie Schuh, and Kailyn Schuh all qualified for Regionals and returned to the same course where they competed in Sectionals last weekend. This time, all three runners were faster than they were the previous week, with Gephart and Kailyn Schuh each recording a new personal record (PR). Competing against 242 varsity girls runners, Triton’s three regional qualifiers turned in outstanding performances: 71st Place — Evelyn Gephart: 20:18.30 (PR) 135th Place — Kensie Schuh: 21:37.14 159th Place — Kailyn Schuh: 21:59.00 (PR) Although none of the three runners advanced to the State Finals, their performances were a fitting conclusion to a season filled with hard work, growth, and achievement. All three athletes can take pride in knowing they finished their season running faster than ever before. Ending a season with your fastest time to date is about as much as any runner or coach can ask for, and these three sophomores did exactly that. Their continued improvement and determination throughout the season are a testament to their dedication to the sport and their commitment to becoming better runners. Triton is incredibly proud of Evelyn, Kensie, and Kailyn for representing the Trojans at the Regional level and for everything they accomplished this season. With two more years of high school cross country ahead of them, all three sophomores have a bright future and plenty of opportunities still to come.
